Trivia from Match Point
- Match Point is Woody Allen's first film to be shot entirely in Britain.
- Running 124 minutes, this is Woody Allen's longest movie to date.
- Kate Winslet was originally cast in this film as Nola Rice. She backed out in order to spend more time with her family.
Since this was filmed in England Woody Allen had to use a certain percentage of an English cast and crew, apparently he made his quota before casting Winslet.
After she dropped out Woody cast American actress Scarlett Johansson.
- The film was shown out of competition at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival.
- The painting of a girl with a red balloon on the wall that Chris walks along was done by Banksy, a graffiti artist from London.
- The story was originally set in the Hamptons.
- The musical the cast sees midway through the movie is Andrew Lloyd Webber's "The Woman In White".
- Woody Allen's first film in 19 years to make a profit in America, following 21 films that haven't. (The last was
Hannah and Her Sisters (1986))
- The haunting recording used several times in the soundtrack, including over the opening and closing credits, is the Enrico Caruso 78 rpm of "Una furtiva lagrima" ("A furtive tear"), from Donizetti's opera "L'Elisir d'Amore" ("The Elixir of Love"). (See soundtrack)
